In Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, at the foot of the slopes and at the start of the summer hiking trails overlooking the village, the Simple & Meilleur Mountain Bistro, run by René and Maxime Meilleur, is a place where people come together to enjoy each other's company in style.
Designed as a picturesque chalet where you can sit down to eat after a morning's skiing or hiking without a care in the world, it features a wood-panelled interior and a contemporary feel, seating up to 70 people.
With your appetite whetted, take a seat in the large upstairs dining room, or on the mezzanine level, and treat yourself to some mouthwatering home cooking, inspired by the very best of the Savoie region and its traditions.
Uncompromisingly good and offering a direct route to pleasure, the Simple & Meilleur mountain restaurant in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville has already received a Bib Gourmand award from the Michelin Guide.
This is the place to go for Meilleur-style family recipes, beautifully prepared local specialities and a fanfare of fine produce. Whole trout baked in the oven, raclette made with fresh, unpasteurised milk, grilled pork chops. At the Simple & Meilleur Bistro it’s game, set and match to gourmet indulgence.

- Reblochon cheese fondue baked in bread / steamed potatoes wrapped in bacon
- Sheep's milk Sérac cheese and warm jacket potatoes (in winter), and tomato salad, sheep's milk Sérac cheese and crispy ham (in summer)
- Snail and mushroom casserole
- Frogs’ legs in a parsley and garlic sauce
- Leeks in vinaigrette with mimosa eggs and wild sorrel
- Brown trout à la Meunière with baby carrots
- Free-range chicken pie soup / julienne carrots / tender spinach shoots and mushrooms (in winter)
- Grandma's chocolate mousse
- Steamed “île flottante” with a custard and caramel sauce.

The Simple & Meilleur mountain bistro in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville also boasts a cellar wine bar on the lower floor of its chalet.
And in the glasses, there's something for everyone, with Savoie at the top of the list showcasing a selection of its wonderfully elegant wines from the Cevins, Arbin, Chignin, Apremont and Jongieux vineyards.
With wines by the glass and a selection of fine vintages from all over France, the wine bar's menu offers a panorama of contrasting delights.
With 200 different labels, from affordable to eye-wateringly expensive vintages, pleasure is always but a heartbeat away.
